Post-Trunk [CLIPP239] By Bejenec
Landing almost 5 years ago to the day of Bejenec’s initial release on clipp.art (“Don’t Stand and Weep” [CLIPP088] for the avid completionists out there among you lovers) arrives “Post Trunk” - the first single from the Ukrainian artists’ forthcoming debut album.
“Post Trunk” wields the energy of raw dance beats and indie rock, in the artist’s own words: “I was a guitarist in a band originally when I started to make music. That was my first instrument and I always had intentions to mix things from my childhood that I liked with dance music. Even with electronics it all started for me with Post-Punk and Synth-Pop and Nu-Metal”. Post Trunk speaks this on so many levels through the lense of Techno starting as a reactionary movement to music of its day, much like Punk and later New Wave with its extravagant use of modern technology to create a new synthetic pop sound.
We like to work with artists immersed in their own evolution, and the blurry border of personal life and work colliding with Bejenec is irresistible. Departing the devastating circumstances of his homeland in Ukraine, for a relocation in Spain has allowed Bejenec a fresh start in his music, and we’re thrilled to be there during the gestation of that vision. Is it Pop Punk? Is it techno? What matters most is how it slaps. And this one truly slaps!
